Recipe for Sour Cherry Simple Syrup by Anisa Sabet. 

Ingredients (makes approx 500ml):

For the syrup: 

  • 4 cups sour cherry juice (you will need 2-3 690g jars sour cherries for this)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar

 

Method:

1. Drain the sour cherries, set aside cherries, reserving the juice. Some recipe ideas for the sour cherries (Sour Cherry Brownies, Sour Cherry Tray Bake or here’s 10 more ways to use sour cherries)

2. Pour cherry juice into a medium heavy based saucepan with the sugar and bring to a boil then turn down to a light simmer and allow to reduce by half.

3. Pour into your preserving glass jar and allow to cool to room temperature, then seal and pop in the fridge until needed (it will last for up to six months).
