Recipe for 10 Cold Brew Coffee Flavours by Anisa Sabet.

Ingredients (makes approx 2L):

For the cold brew:

  • 350g coarse coffee grounds
  • 7 cups filtered water (or substitute as listed below)
  • Flavouring (as outlined below)
  • Sweetener: use sugar syrup, maple or honey to taste

Flavour ideas:

  • Vanilla: 2 tablespoons vanilla extract. Can serve with or without your choice milk.
  • Cinnamon & Honey: 3 cinnamon sticks & 1/4 cup honey (or to taste). Can serve with or without your choice milk.
  • Toasted Coconut: 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut, *use coconut water in place of water. Can serve with or without your choice milk.
  • Mint: 2 teaspoons mint extract. Can serve with or without your choice milk. A swirl of chocolate sauce would be nice too!
  • Maple Spice: 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 6 cloves, 1/4 cup maple syrup. Can serve with or without your choice milk.
  • Almond Vanilla: 2 tablespoons vanilla extract, *use almond milk in place of water. No milk required.
  • New Orleans: 1/4 cup ground chicory. Can serve with or without your choice milk.
  • Coconut Rum: 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut, *use 2 cups coconut milk in place of 2 cups water, 1/2 cup rum (or to taste). No milk required.
  • Choc-Orange: 2 teaspoons orange extract, 1/4 cup cacao beans. Can serve with or without your choice milk. A swirl of chocolate sauce would be nice too!
  • Rose: 2 tablespoons rosewater (or to taste). Best served with light cream or your choice of milk.

Method:

1. In a large 2L jar, mix together all the ingredients, pop in the fridge and allow to steep overnight.

2. Using a cheesecloth or fine sieve, strain coffee out of cold brew and pour into new jar and leave in the fridge. Serve on ice, with or without milk (as outlined above).
