World-renowned (and Saveur Blog Awards 2018 Finalist) photographer, stylist and blogger Bea Lubas comes to Australia to teach an exclusive group of food photographers, stylists, bloggers or business owners.

This retreat will be an exciting and one-off opportunity for guests to meet and learn from this leader in visual storytelling and photography.

The event is designed to be an all-inclusive getaway and educational retreat, ideal for both beginner and experienced photographers, or someone who simply wants to slow down, refresh, hone their style and emerge themselves in food culture.

Bea Lubas
Anisa Sabet

The retreat is set at Bundara Farm, a beautiful homestead nestled into the delightful village of Berry. The homestead is a beautiful large house with a communal kitchen and dining area where most of our classes will be held. The grounds are beautiful and we will have lots of opportunities (weather permitting) for outdoor dining. Berry is located approx. 2 hours from Sydney and Canberra.

The retreat welcomes anyone wanting to explore their creativity, through to professionals wanting to develop their career in food styling, photography or blogging. All classes will be immersive, hands-on and a way for the guests to experience the process of visual storytelling in an intimate environment and with the guidance of experienced professionals.

Host and curator Anisa Sabet says; “Guests walk away with clarity around their individual journey, more confidence in their own abilities, fizzing with creativity and of course, lasting friendships. The Bea Lubas x Anisa Sabet Retreat is about bringing together like minded creatives for a few days of feasting, laughing, sharing and learning.”

Photography basics | Think of this as photography 101. We will go through camera settings, how to approach lighting, what lighting is best for each scene, colour theory, compositions, angles and equipment.

Styling process | Together we will learn how to style any food or lifestyle scene; starting from prop selection, angles, lighting direction and how to use these to tell visual stories.

This will be undertaken in a hands-on collective session where we will edit our photos as a group. Please make sure you bring your laptop with Lightroom Classic CC loaded and ready.

Business and Marketing | This is an opportunity for you to ask all the burning questions that you might face as a photographer, business owner or blogger. We will discuss blogging, sponsorship, marketing, social media and how to develop a consistent brand. There are no stupid questions, so come armed with a list!

Special barnyard dinner | You will be treated to a special barnyard dinner under the stars. We will share a meal, sample local wine and share stories.
